Self-Portrait Performance
2019
Dimension: 36’’ x 16’’ x 16’’
Medium: Clothing (Calvin Klein, Old Navy, American Eagle), metal, wood, latex Duration: 45 minutes (2:30 pm - 3:15 pm on 01/23/2019)
Location: New York Origin of Materials: Vietnam, China, India Description: I use a chair as a stand-in for myself because I sit down most of the time while being in school. During this period, I lost a lot of weight again. Thus, the metal structure and latex cast of the chair seat represent my skin and bone. Viewers are invited to "undress" me as I tried to release myself from using American goods to blend in with American society. I now want to be seen for who I am.
